Probate
Probate is the legal process of administering the estate of a deceased person. If you have not avoided probate with good estate planning and the use of trusts and other vehicles, you must go through probate court when a loved one dies. Probate is necessary to settle the claims against the estate, to have a representative of the estate appointed and to adjudicate among the competing parties, often other family members, who may have a claim to the estate.
Probate can be a lengthy and difficult process. Good, effective counsel who understands the process, your needs and the local probate court is important to getting through the probate process successfully with a fair, efficient result. We know the courts. We know the process. We know how to help get your family through probate and, hopefully, on to your fair inheritance and the rest of your life. There are, however, many variables and predicting a result is impossible.
