Why Artists Should Speak with the Grossman Law Firm
Just as we embrace families of all kinds in our family law practice [link to family law practice], we welcome artists and performers of every kind to our Arts and Entertainment practice [link to parent entertainment page]. We respect human creativity whether others may consider it silly or scary, experimental music and performance or something without a name yet. If you are creating, we want to help you and we will work to find a way to work with you.
The principals of the Grossman Law Firm are personal fans and devotees of the arts. We respect artists of every stripe, artists working in every media, engaging with every subject matter. We understand that great art is challenging, that the greatest artists often push the envelope of the expected and customary, often creating their own envelope altogether, even defining a new space for the future artists that will one day follow them.
Pushing the bounds of creativity often raises a host of legal issues from First Amendment free speech concerns to insurance to fair use and other copyright concerns. It needs counsel that gets it, that cares, that can share the vision of the artist and fight for it, even though the bleeding edge of the arts is not necessarily where the big money is. We love performers, creators and talent of every kind – mixed media artists, actors, improvisation artists, alternative photographers and models, movement performers, circus acts, artists evoking eroticism, creating a new political voice, tackling religious and philosophical themes, whether challenging or adding to the glory of existing social norms and symbols. We understand that the leading edge of the arts may mean that recognition and the payoff that comes with it may never come or come long after we are all dead.
